Making Time at Misericordia

Posted by Guest Student Blogger on May 2, 2017

There is no other Speech-Language Pathology program like the one at Misericordia University. With a 5-year accelerated program and speech classes starting as early as your first semester, Misericordia was obviously at the top of my list when I was making the most important decision of my life. It was hard work to get into the program, and now that I’m here I have to continue to work hard to stay where I am. It is a demanding yet fulfilling program that will both challenge and bring out the best in me.

No Longer the New Guy On Campus

Posted by Guest Student Blogger on Feb 28, 2017

As I start the second semester of my first year as a student at Misericordia University, I reflect on what I have accomplished and what I have learned from my first semester. I am happy to report that I am finally figuring out where everything is - I know which building is which, where most classrooms and professor’s offices are located, and due to one unfortunate circumstance, where to go when you are sick. As a veteran of my first college semester, I now understand the drastic struggle of studying for finals and finding the time to balance schoolwork with sports. It was all so much more stressfull that I anticipated. But, after having an entire month off from school, I feel rejuvenated and ready to get back at it this semester.

Home for the Holidays

Posted by Guest Student Blogger on Dec 12, 2016

After being home for five days for Thanksgiving break, it’s a relief to know that Christmas Break is right around the corner. The three weeks in between the two holidays have been the most stressful days of my life. Between studying for the dreaded finals and wrapping up end of the semester projects, I haven’t had time for myself. Luckily, the holiday cheer is too great to put a damper on my Christmas spirit.

A Turkey Bowl Homecoming

Posted by Guest Student Blogger on Dec 6, 2016

It’s weird to experience the feeling of coming home for an extended break from the demands of college life. With Thanksgiving being our first major break of the year at Misericordia University, I was able to go home for about a week and just relax. For the first time in a long time, I slept in my own comfortable bed in my own room. This was a strange feeling after getting accustomed to sharing a room with another student. I would say the best part about being home, though, was having home-cooked meals again, especially Thanksgiving dinner.

Which Came First - The Student or the Athlete?

Posted by Guest Student Blogger on Nov 16, 2016

You’ve probably heard this a thousand times, but getting involved is one of the only ways to meet new people in college. When you’re taking five or six different classes, you won’t really have the time or energy to worry about making friends. When you become part of a team, it’s like you already have a built-in family; a family away from family. I know as an incoming freshman, I was anxious about meeting new people and putting myself out there. The field hockey team at Misericordia University quickly took me under their wing and made me feel like I belonged at this school. I’m sure it’s the same way with the other teams as well.

First-Week Jitters at Misericordia are not enough to Rattle the Excitement

Posted by Guest Student Blogger on Sep 12, 2016

Every summer must come to an end. This year, however, was the start of a new chapter of my life: college. I was no longer returning to the familiar comfort of high school. Being the oldest, I had no one to turn to for advice on college life, so I packed up my mom’s car with too many clothes and drove to Misericordia not knowing what I was about to get myself into.
